About us

A repair-first HVAC companyin Fresno.

We diagnose systems before anyone talks about replacing them. That one decision shapes how we hire, how we price, how we train and what shows up in your driveway — and everything on this page can be checked.

What we stand for

Repair first. Replace only when it makes sense.

That sentence is easy to put on a website. What makes it real is what it costs to keep — because a company committed to repairing first turns down replacement work it could have sold, and does an hour of diagnostic labor to find out whether it should.

We built the business around it anyway, because the alternative is a model where the fastest, most profitable answer is also the one nobody can check. An old system is not a broken system, and "it is fifteen years old" is not a diagnosis.

Our job is to find out what is actually wrong. What you do about it is your decision, made with our evidence in your hands.

Cost of a second opinion on someone else's quote

The standards we hold ourselves to

Not values statements. Things a technician either did on your job or did not, and that you can check afterwards.

Measure, then quote

Superheat and subcooling, static pressure, temperature split, amp draw and capacitance. Numbers before opinions, every visit.

Show the evidence

Photos of the actual fault in your actual system, shown before you approve anything and yours to keep afterwards.

Price before work

A firm number you approve first. No surcharge on the invoice that was not discussed when you booked.

Permit and verify

California requires a mechanical permit and independent field verification on most changeouts. We pull them and include them in the quote.

Size by calculation

Replacements get a load calculation, not a match of the tonnage that just failed. Oversizing is the most common install error in this valley.

Invite the second opinion

Take our findings to anyone you like. We give free second opinions on other companies' quotes, so it would be strange to resent yours.

What we are not

Worth being clear about, so you can decide early whether we are the right fit.

  • We are not the cheapest company in Fresno

There is always a lower number available. It usually arrives without a permit, without a load calculation and without code verification — which makes it a different job, not a better price. We compete on the work, not the invoice.

  • We do not do free estimates as a sales device

A free visit has to be paid for by whoever ends up buying a system, and that incentive is exactly what we are trying to remove. We charge a flat diagnostic fee and waive it when you approve the repair.

  • We are not a national chain with a local phone number

One number, one local team, one Fresno address. The person who answers knows the technician who will be at your house.

  • We will not pressure you in the heat

If it is 108 degrees and you want a night to think about a five-figure decision, that is a reasonable thing to want. Urgency that benefits the seller is a sales tactic, not a service.

Our technicians

The person in your driveway is the whole company

Every standard on this page lives or dies with the technician standing at your condenser at four in the afternoon in July. Nobody is watching him. The measurements are slower than the guess, and the guess pays better.

So we hire for the temperament to do it properly anyway, and we build the job around making that the easy choice rather than the noble one.

I realized something was wrong with my AC when I got home Tuesday afternoon and noticed it wasn't blowing cold air. I called them right away, and they were able to send a technician to my Fresno home that same evening. The repair only took about 45 minutes, and everything was back to normal once the work was done.

About the company

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. California Heating & AC Repair operates under CSLB license #999179, and you can check the status, bond and workers' compensation directly with the state board rather than taking our word for it.

Who actually owns the company?

California Heating & AC Repair is operated by Craftline Renovations, Inc., a California corporation based in Fresno. One local team, one phone number, one address.

Are you a franchise?

No. We are independent and local. When you call (559) 520-4240 you reach our office, not a national call center routing your job to whoever bid on the lead.

What brands do you work on?

All major residential brands, plus split systems, packaged and rooftop units, heat pumps, ductless mini-splits and evaporative coolers. If another company has declined to work on your equipment, ask us.

Do you really give free second opinions on other companies' quotes?

Yes, and we tell you plainly when the other company was right. Here is how it works.

Put us to work

A proper diagnostic, evidence you can see, and a price you approve before anything happens.
